Most pool contractors hand you a catalogue of shapes and call it custom. A concept pool starts somewhere else entirely: with the space, the landscape and the experience you want to create.
A standard pool
Standard pools are built to proven, repeatable methods — skimmer, overflow, liner, composite or concrete. They are cost-effective, reliable and quick to specify. For many homes they are exactly the right answer.
A concept pool
A concept pool is designed around a theme or an experience: a beach entry, a lagoon edge, an infinity horizon, a rock grotto with a waterfall. The shape follows the idea rather than the other way round.
What actually changes
- The process starts with a conversation, not a brochure
- Design comes before pricing — concept sketches and 3D visualisation first
- Engineering is bespoke — structure, waterproofing and filtration designed for that one build
- Timelines are longer, because detailing takes time
Which should you choose?
If you want a reliable, beautifully finished pool for swimming, a standard build is sensible. If you want the pool to be the centrepiece your home is arranged around, that is a concept pool. Both deserve the same engineering rigour.
